Family Pathways is now offering Senior Services in Onamia and Northern Mille Lacs County. Senior Services provides FREE services to all seniors 60 years of age or older. Finding a volunteer to take them shopping, doctors appointments, or help with most things that they would need.
The Onamia Food Pantry, formerly known as the Onamia Food Shelf, got its start in 1983 and was originally under the auspices of the Onamia area churches. For most of its twenty year history it has been operating out of space provided by Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia.
Its purpose is to help citizens of Onamia and Northern Mille Lacs County with a 3-day supply of food in time of great need.
Donations of food items and financial assistance are always needed and greatly appreciated. Please contact the Food Pantry for additional and/or specific information.
The Onamia Food Pantry also serves as an agent for the once-a-month federal commodities programs: NAPS (Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors) and MAC (Mothers & Children). Recipients of either program must first register and fall under certain low-income guidelines to qualify.
In November 2002, the Onamia Food Pantry began partnering with the non-profit, social outreach organization, Family Pathways, serving East Central Minnesota.
