Hillman-Onamia Knights of Columbus

Founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut by Rev. Michael J. McGivney, the Knights of Columbus are an international fraternal organization of Roman Catholic laymen whose sole purpose is to serve and promote faith, family and fraternity. Among its other principles are charity, unity, and patriotism. As of 2002 there are nearly 2 million members in 11,000 local units called councils in the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guam, the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, and Saipan.

The Knights of Columbus are loyal to their Church. They are Pro-Life and promote family values. They provide nationally known and highly respected top quality insurance protection to members and their families. They provide a million-dollar Educational Trust as well as student loans & scholarships. They do a great deal of community service wherever they are located. They also provide a Catholic Information Service and promote vocations to priesthood and Religious Life. The Knights were also there to financially assist the families of police & emergency personnel victims in the September 11, 2001 bombings in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to all Catholic men 18 years of age or older in good standing and who are serious about their religious faith. Dues are minimal and the benefits out of this world!

There is a local council of Knights of Columbus in the Onamia area which was founded in 1983. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month from October to April at Holy Cross Center, 102 Crosier Drive North (next to Holy Cross Church) in Onamia. And, from May to September at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Hillman, MN.
